I know how to spell pneumonia now,
without spell check.
I never really wanted to learn to spell that word.
Or to have it for that matter.
I need to quick, hurry get better
Because I have Easter and a vacation to plan.
And I think all my children are forgetting who I am.
For the last few weeks
whenever L hears me cough
I hear her shout "mama!"
But when I make it into the same room
as all the living
More often than not
she reaches for her Dada.
Well, if I have to be replaced
She picked a good one.
Did I ever post these family pictures we took back in November?

Friday with the Sun
What a happy day.
When the sun comes out
and shines its glorious rays through my windows
I smile more
and even laundry becomes a pleasant task.
And to make the day even better
Eric worked from home.
So then I got to see this,
how every dad should get to work
every once in awhile.
When my boys came home,
They bounced with friendsfrom bikes to basketball to trampoline
All afternoon.
To end the day,
The boys and I went to a solo piano recital
for another student of their piano teacher.
What beautiful music came from that grand piano and that 15 year old girl!
It made my heart happy to sit there
with my boys.
Afterwards they told me they liked it.
Well, and that they really liked the cookies.
I do hope they liked the music more than the cookies though.
But, if nothing else, maybe now they are inspired
to stick with piano
so we can serve yummy cookies
at their solo piano recitals some day.

Razzle Dazzle Reader
the Razzle Dazzle Reader in his class.
I love watching him work so hard on a project,
and doing it
with next to nil
help from his parents.
He is a capable, hard working, creative individual.
He got to bring in a poster with 5 different paragraphs about himself
and a summary of the book he would read out loud to the class.
He also brought in 3 show and tell items.
Highlights from his project:
1. His favorite vacation was when we went to disneyworld. Yes!
2. When he grows up, he wants to do the same job Eric does.
3. If he could travel anywhere it would be to Boston to visit our friends, the Stocks.
4. He loves his Star Wars origami and playing the wii.
Love me my Kyler!

Wrestling, and then I started rambling
I'm making dinner.
L is at my feet.
Eric's watching D.
D has some cars.
Kyler has a book.
Kacin is wandering.
And then
the next thing I know
it's a dog pile of a wrestling match.
L and I are content
just watching those boys go at it.
You see the white smudges on the couch?
We found corresponding white smudges on Kyler's pants.
Like he sat in mashed potatoes or something.
We are going on a trip in a matter of weeks.
I am anxious for the sun!
Eric and I planned out the trip one night
while everyone was asleep.
We were sitting at the Dr.'s office yesterday
(more ear infections for the Kacin man! Seriously?!)
and we pulled out a piece of paper to play hangman.
I went first
and the phrase I picked was
"We are going to Arizona."
When the boys finally figured it out,
(they were just one away from hanging,
and if they didn't solve it
I tell you
I thought I just might have to return their plane tickets)
they jumped all around that little Dr.'s office.
And then we talked all trip
for the rest of our long Dr.'s wait.
The boys and I like making plans to travel.
Preschool registration for next year
is just about complete.
I love teaching out of my home.
I am so lucky that it all works out.
I was summoned for jury duty
but darn it all
I can't do it.
I've always wanted to,
but I guess I have to wait
until I am old
and my kids are grown.
I am sitting here at my computer desk
and man it is dusty.
Someone really should clean this desk
and those shelves every once in awhile.
I cooked a full meal
for the first time in weeks.
Like, I didn't even use a pre-packaged
heat and serve thing
and we did not eat out.
It feels so good to finally be on the upswing
of this sickness.
And now I think I will start appreciating
breathing
and everything else that comes with being healthy.

Kacin's Cupcakes
I hope
he remembers
how he was inspired to bake cupcakes
because when we were sick
we laid on that couch
and watched an entire season of
DC Cupcakes together
And
how excited and careful he was
as he decorated each cupcake
with a swirl
And
how scrumptious they turned out
And
how everyone wants him to bake again
But NOT
that I snapped at him at least ten times
during the baking process
when he was short on listening skills
and I was short on patience
And NOT
that we were interrupted
a million more times
between my coughing fits
and D and L tantrums
I hope
he remembers
that despite all my shortcomings
as a mother
he is loved
and one talented boy.

About Me
I was 19 the day that Eric and I got married and I had my whole perfect life PLANNED out—a time table, a list of goals, EXPECTATIONS, and dreams. But LIFE gave me something EVEN BETTER than my limited vision and plans: a chance to learn and grow and BECOME by experiencing infertility, foster care, adoption, special needs (autism) parenting, breast cancer, and more. Our lives are often challenging, PAINFUL, and complicated, yet it is no doubt that they are GLORIOUS, wonderful, and exciting, too. Our EXPERIENCES, the ones we DELIBERATELY seek out and the ones we would never have picked but we have to MUDDLE through anyways, SHAPE us. We CHOOSE what that shape will look like in the end by our ATTITUDE and our willingness to EMBRACE the moments of life. For it is the MOMENTS that DEFINE us. I choose to WALK FORWARD in the BRIGHTNESS of hope by noticing those moments, LEARNING as much as I can, SEEKING the good, and TRUSTING in a loving God.
