Slippin' in the Sun

Lots of sun.
Finally.
But no air conditioning.
Okay. So now I understand
why some of my Washington-er young women
whined when they heard
the forecast would be 80-90 degrees this week.
When you don't have ac,
it is the inside of your house that is 87 degrees.
interesting. horrible.
I never knew.
But we took advantage of the sun
when our friends invited us over to play.
I totally had as much fun on the slip n slide
as the boys.
Can't wait to do it again.

Fireworks

I've never experienced a 4th of July weekend quite like this.
Because we live in "unincorporated" land,
our neighborhood had the freedom
to go crazy with the fireworks.
And they did.

We started out our 2-day celebration
with a BBQ and S'mores.
It was sooo cold Saturday when we set off our fireworks
with our neighbors.
We wore coats and bundled up with blankets.
It was a spectacular show.
Huge fireworks shooting up into the sky right over our heads.

Since Jacqui and Josh showed up on our couch
after the fireworks and festivities that night,
we had to do it all again the next day.
Oh, yeah and because that was actually the 4th of July.
From about 3pm to Midnight
we were in a war zone.
The fireworks and explosions were constant.
When we walked outside around 9:30pm
it didn't matter which way we looked
there were fireworks bursting into the air from every direction.

Happy Independence Day!

I Heart

She surprised me

with him

and came to visit.
I was crazy surprised
to see them sitting on my couch
when we got home from fireworks last night.
They were in cahoots with E
and Stef

to make this big surprise possible.
It makes me happy to have family here
to play with for a few days.
And it makes me happy
that amid the craziness of so many people in the house
they all decided to nap at the same time.
So now Jac and I get to play with him.
And take pictures of everyone sleeping.

Play Ball!

Kyler got a free ticket through his school
so we all headed to a ball game.
We watched the game, cheered, ran up and down the bleachers,
got autographs from the team mascot
and everyone else sitting around us.
(Good thing they were all families from Kyler's school).
We stayed up WAY past bedtime to watch the post game fireworks,
not getting home until midnight.

T-ball season has also begun!

What a Baby Nephew Inspires

Regression.
My Kacin is back to bottles of milk,
crawling,
and standing at my feet
stretching out his arms and grunting
until I pick him up.

Little Entrepreneurs

$8.40 in an hour and a half isn't bad,
especially for a lemonade stand
completely put together and made--
signs, wagons, and watered-down lemonade--
by two 6-year olds and a 5-year old.
I guess it didn't hurt to have a cute, little baby cousin
as one of your salesman.

Such a Dad

I may be posting this a bit late,
but don't judge.
We just liked dragging this holiday out this year.
Eric was spoiled for a whole month before Father's day.
The boys and I couldn't decide on just one present for him
and we weren't patient enough to actually wait until Father's day
to give him our gifts,
so each week after Mother's day until Father's day he received a gift
and we sang him a song.
One week it was a card shuffler
to shuffle all of those Killer Bunnies cards,
then it was a grill, followed by a Killer Bunnies expansion pack,
finally we gave him a bird identifying book and the classic cool tie.
We love you so much E!
You are an amazing dad because
you garden with us (and include all of the neighbor boys, too)
you work very hard
you read to us
you play with us
you take us on many adventures.
