Fathers and Sons

On Mother's Day weekend, these three headed out for the annual Stake fathers and sons campout. From what I gathered from the stories, it was a night of dirt, games, S'mores, friends, running around, and fire. Which means it was the best night ever.

Nap Time

D's nap time routine has recently developed into this:
I move all diapers, wipes, diaper genie, etc.
out of the room
and move his bed up against the closet doors.
He lays in bed with his blanket
while I sit on the floor next to him
and read him a book
(even if it's one of those he's chewed on
and ripped half of the pages out of).
When I finish,
He looks at me with eyes wide
and signs "more" with his hands.
"More book? " I ask.
He smiles and smiles.
I pull out another book
and when I get to "The End"
he asks again, "more?"
After this third book,
I tell him "all done'' with my words and hands
give him kisses and hugs,
check the room one more time for books or things
we want to preserve
and I tell him goodbye
as I slip out the door.
Within a few minutes,
I can hear
the little guy up and having the time of his life
dumping and moving and playing.
And eventually he drifts off
and I find him and his room
like this.

On this Week's Menu

If Kacin ruled the menu . . .

Sorry Kac.
Nice try.
But we are
not
headed to Olive Garden, Taco Bell, or Red Robin this week.
The only thing you got right
is that we will be camping this weekend.
And maybe I'll give you the soup.

Mother's Day

Kidnapped.
Trying to get ready for 9am church
when I was blindfolded and kidnapped
by two handsome boys
and their father.

Biscuits and gifts.
A coupon book (can't wait to cash in on my back rub) from Kacin,
Sweet cards about how I give the best hugs and make the best burritos,
and lavender bath salts and a portrait from Kyler.

Thanks for making this mom feel loved, my boys.

And even though my little ones did not join us at our breakfast
they gave me an awesome present--
I got to stay through all of sacrament meeting for once.
Well, it helped that I was speaking,
but I think this was the first time that D made it the whole time
without a trip into the halls.

Happy Mother's Day!

Fun Run

Our 2nd family 5K.
(Last year)
Getting all ready . . .

Somebody would rather be in the car . . .

Stretch . . .

We split up a little bit this year.
I stayed with the boys while Eric took the stroller.
Kacin was a little running monster
and finished the race in 29 minutes!
He got second place out of the boys (kids).
Kyler and I came in at 34 minutes.
And Eric was just a few minutes behind us
(the stroller up the big hill was a doozy).
