Before School Starts

Summer vacation comes to an end today. Kyler and Kacin have their clothes set out and their backpacks ready to go. We have met teachers. We are ready for the school year to begin, but so sad for the summer to be over. We tried to cram as much fun into the last week as possible.

I took each of the boys out individually to buy a few items that they needed before school. We had such fun together on these back to school dates. We got to talk (I heard some rather interesting stories from Ky)  and laugh (about things like the Kacin and the m&ms incident) and they had my undivided attention as they tried on shoes and debated which lunchbox to buy.

We went back to school for a night and to preschool for a morning to meet teachers and visit classrooms.

We played outside with the hose in the warm summer sun.

And our last big hurrah was a weekend of camping at Cascade park with good weather, good campsite, good company, and good fun in the river and on the slip n slide.

And so this is when we say goodbye to one fabulous summer and welcome in a new school year! It's back to routines and busy schedules starting tomorrow. Let's just hope we can all remember how to go to bed at a decent hour . . .

Cub Scout Day Camp

Thanks to some really awesome leaders and many parents (not me!) for putting together a super fun cub scout summer activity for these boys! My boys loved every minute of the hiking, leather making, cooking, wood working, volleyball, kickball, rocket launching, and more.

3 D!

He turned 3!

Poor D was sick the day before his birthday. On the day of his birthday,
he still had a low fever and was a bit sluggish all morning so we minimized all of our plans, but still tried to make the day all about D.

One of the first things we did was drive to the gym in search of D's favorite keys. They had been missing for about a week and after searching at home, we realized we had gone to the gym around the time the keys went missing. What do you know, there they were in lost and found. He was so excited to see them again. Well, we were all glad he had his keys back. Keys make for a calmer D.

Our next stop was to pick out a birthday balloon.

Kyler and Kacin were so great to their little brother all day. They tried extra hard to spend time with him and help him all they could.

Lunch!

Time for the birthday cake. By this time, D was feeling much better.

Forget the fork . . .

Presents!

It's hard when it's not your birthday, but you want to open all the presents yourself . . .

Happy birthday, our D!
We love you and your smile and your big personality.
