San Francisco Weekend

Preschool ended, I went to a girls camp meeting and to the boys' piano recital (yes, everything seems to happen all on the same day). Then I packed up my bag and headed out the next day for a weekend of fun with two of my sisters and my mom. After a packed week like that, I was grateful for a little time to relax and hang out with three awesome ladies in my life.

Jenny moved to the Bay area not too long ago so we headed her way to explore San Francisco.

And by explore, I mean record an awkward music video. Until I can figure out how to upload it here, I'll taunt you with a few photos of my dance moves around the city.

My plane arrived much earlier than mom and Jacqui's. Jen and I walked through downtown san fran then rented bikes and rode all around Golden Gate state park.

The next day we rented a convertible and rode around the city in style. ;)

We did the touristy things--Lombard street, golden gate bridge, China Town, and the Full House houses (complete with picnic, just like the opening song. we are cool.).

We went to Golden Gate State park again and rode the pedal boats.

After church the next day, we walked around beautiful Stanford campus then went to the beach.

I only wish we had more time together (and that Stef had made it, too). Every time we get together I find my self thinking about how alike and yet how different each one of us are. It's a good time to all be together. I love these ladies!

Preschool at an end

I have spent the last four years teaching preschool out of my home. I have so much fun teaching so I felt so lucky to be doing something I love and getting to stay home and be mom, too. It has been wonderful.

But my role as mom has gotten a bit busier than it was when I first started teaching and only had two kids. I got a feeling this year that it would be right to step away from preschool for awhile and focus on my family. So I made the decision not to teach next year. It was such a bittersweet conclusion to come to. I will miss teaching, but I'm so excited to put more of my time and energy into our home and family.

Here is the end of preschool Teddy Bear picnic and program.

The kids split into three groups to play a variety of picnic games.

They ate teddy bear shapd pb&j's, teddy grahams, gummy bears, and more with their teddy bears and friends.

The kids sang three songs for their parents, A Tooty Ta, Preschool is Fun (to the tune of zip-a-dee-do-dah), and You've Got a Friend in Me. They also each told us what they wanted to be when they grow up. Layla said she wants to be a "doctor office".

I passed out certificates and gave a balloon to each of the kiddos for a job well done this year.

I will miss my little preschool friends.

Baseball

Kacin hasn't played baseball since he had a season or two of T-ball. You wouldn't know that fact by watching him. He has a LOVE for this game and showed off his athletic ability by working hard at practices and games.

Before the season started, he was adamant that he just wanted to be a catcher. By the end of the season, he still loved catcher position, but he could also hold his own as pitcher, outfield, on a base, short stop or wherever he was needed.

This was classic Kacin every time he ran home.

They got to play the last couple of games on the nice turf field.

He played with a really great group of boys and the most fabulous coaches you could ask for.

At the end of the season celebration, Kacin received "the coaches award". Which basically means Kacin is quite spectacular. The coach said a whole slew of good things about how Kacin could've been the most inspirational, mr. hustle, most improved, etc. and how Kacin was great about listening to the coaches and helping others. His head coach was quite surprised to hear this was really Kacin's first season playing. The coach talked about how much Kacin loves baseball and how he knew when every game and practice was and that he probably sleeps in his uniform with his bat and glove under his pillow because he has such a love for the game (the coach said which was just like himself at that age)! I'm sure Kacin would if we let him. We are sooo proud of our Kacin.
